Aristoc - Ultimate 5 denier tights

I'm a fan of hosiery under 10denier - and a particular fan of 5s. Not many firms attempt them - so when they come out from time to time - I treat myself to a several pairs and road test merrily.

I like the feel of tights and I'm a real lover of the 'is she/isn't she?' level of transparency and invisibility.

So, when Aristoc launched their 5 Denier 'ultimates' I had to give them a go.

Handling
The packaging feels luxurious - nice cover and considering they are £12 a pop, pleased they aren't the usual package one gets, with an SKU tag, and hook for a hanging rail.

Out of the package, they look long (I'm 5'4 - medium) and the shading looks quite dark at first, but as you stretch them out they pale to invisibility.
The yarn feels like there is a coating and in the sunlight there is evidently quite a lot of Lycra - good in tights this sheer. Many recent 5s have a low Lycra content and this shows with slight bagging after an hour.
Sheer to waist and with a label - nice touch - as having drawers full and being such a fan of them it's nice to know what you have after they have been through the wash.
The toes are sheer too - with a seam that comfortably sits under the big toenail - keeping the toe invisible.

Putting them on.
Plenty of stretch however they did feel surprisingly on the short side. Very, very slight almost imperceptible sheen - however -  wouldn't call this a 'sun-oil' or gloss pair - it's flattering - almost like you have just moisturised.
The Nude shade is excellent - Aristoc are usually a good match for my tone - and they neither appear too colouring nor powdery on the leg - and blend immediately.
The fit and comfort ate excellent - what is noticeably absent at this weight is the 'fragility' feel. Admittedly I'm used to wearing 7s and 8s all the time - and I find the 'grocery' and mid range end of the market can feel pretty unstable at times - but this is clearly a fantastic quality of yarn with a good Lycra content giving robustness and good hold around the leg, behind the knees etc - without visible loose fabric around the Achilles nor in the curve behind the knee /calf muscle. This means (in my mind) they are less likely to catch items.

Road test.
Wore them for a drive and to meet a friend - who commented that it didn't look like I had tights on at all.
With general wearing - in and out of the car - sitting on a bench outside the pub they didn't feel 'snaggy' - no particular predilection to catch - and a nip with the car keys accidentally neither snagged nor caused a hole or ladder.
Nice glide under the dress lining - so not static generating nor at all clinging - fantastic I would say with shorts, dresses or any of the current chiffon /sheer dresses and skirts.
The slight gloss to them is the cooling effect - and I found these tights fine for a night out with some dancing - not hot at all.

After about 8 hours, and taking them off - there was a slight toe hole generated, but interestingly they had not laddered.
On second wear I was impressed they went on without shrinking or bagging from a wash in a hosiery bag, and that they hole had neither expanded nor lengthened either.
However - I caught them significantly on the second wear and they did get a larger hole which did run slightly. However - I would consider 2 outings from a pair of 5 denier tights to be impressive - one normally 'sinks' the cost on opening the packet.

In conclusion:
Generally - unlike some 5s - they don't feel at all fragile and flimsy - more like 7 or 10 to put on.
The price tag does set them at the luxury end of the market - but the colourways fills the gap left at this weight by the Wolford and Levante colours which I find a bit orange, and the new M+S 5s which are quite a pale creamy sort of nude.
The fabric is comfortable to wear, they don't roll or slip as bad as the Wolford offering at the weight  which has quite pronounced '3D' sort of stretch.

All told - these are probably some of the nicest 5s  have bought and worn - and are worth the price tag because of the durability, fit and colouring alone.

I would definitely be stocking up on these  - and give rate them

Price:            7/10
Look:            10/10
Durability:   8/10
